Alton Berry Medlin III passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the age of 53 surrounded by his loving family. Berry was born on April 6, 1972 in Fayetteville, NC to the late Alton Berry (Al) Medlin II and Rose Medlin.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alton Berry (Al) Medlin II.
Berry is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Belinda Reedy Medlin; father-in-law, William Reedy; brother-in-law, Brandon Reedy (Elizabeth); brothers, Jason Medlin (Melissa) and Jeffrey Medlin (Teresa); his mother, Rose Medlin; and his niece, Sierra Medlin.
Berry was an observer – quiet in his strengths and soft-spoken until it was time to not be. He was a protector of his family and of those closest to him. Definitely the type of man that you would want to have in your corner. Always one to jump in and offer a helping hand without hesitation or regret and never expecting anything in return. You were always met with a hearty handshake, a sheepish grin and at some point, an infectious laugh.
A lover of sports, you could often always find him dressed in San Francisco 49ers or UNC Tarheels attire. If you spent any amount of time with him and his wife, Belinda, you would truly know of a “house divided” when the football and basketball seasons were in with Belinda being a Dallas Cowboys and Duke Blue Devils fan.
As much as he loved his teams, the love for his wife was unwavering. He adored her from the very beginning and together they built a life that was all their own. In their early years, spur of the moment, middle-of-the-night drives to the beach or to grab a box of Krispy Kreme donuts while in the middle of a card game to the most recent years of just hanging out together on the couch watching a tv show or movie. They found peace in the presence of God’s beauty in the North Carolina mountains and would return to them year after year to celebrate their anniversaries.
While there will never be another day with his physical being in our presence, Berry’s family and friends can bare witness that he will be in their hearts and memories for the remainder of their days.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 1:00PM at Haymount Freewill Baptist Church, 136 Eastwood Ave., Fayetteville, NC 28301 with Brother Ricky Hopper officiating.
