Audrey (Batts) Viner

Audrey Batts Viner, 77, of Raeford passed away in her home August 29, 2023. Audrey was born in Pender County, May 30, 1946, to the late Earl Glenn Batts and Inez Spence Batts. Preceding her in death was her husband, Kenneth R. "Mack" Viner, and her brothers, Gerald Batts, and Donald Batts. Audrey was a ray of sunshine to everyone she met, and she never met a stranger.

Audrey was a licensed psychologist and practiced with Pitt County Health for 20 years, and Cherry Hospital for 10 years. Her devotion to helping others knew no bounds. She was an avid champion for those who needed mental health treatment and loved her fellow man. She would often say, "Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you."

Her love did not stop there. She had ten nieces and nephews. She spoiled each of them rotten on a regular basis. Every birthday or Christmas held the anticipation of her thoughtful gifts and most unique cards. Audrey's tender heart for animals led her to mother multiple animal rescues in which they found the best home and unconditional love.

She was the beloved historian of our family history. We looked forwarded to what she discovered in her research and the wonderful stories she would tell each of us of the times of old. Genealogy was a treasured achievement of which she was proud.

Surviving is her beloved sister, Belva Anne Wortman, sister-in-law, Wilma G. Batts and stepdaughter Sabryna McClung Roberson. Nieces, Merrie B. Fannin, Anita W. Jones, Tracey B. Thompson, and Megan B. Stark. Nephews, Alfred J. Wortman, Brian J. Wortman, David G. Batts, Stephen E. Batts, Don E. Batts, and David L. Batts. Great nieces and nephews, Randy, Michael, Catie, Laney, Hunter, Alia, Carter, Ashlyn, Harper, Brooke, Hudson, Conleigh, Lillith, Iris, and Flora.

Also, a special thanks to Audrey's friends and neighbors, who took exceptional care of her during their years of friendship and were loved by her dearly.

A celebration of life will be announced and held by the family at a later date.
