Welcome to the memorial page for

Avery McFall (Conkling) Conkling

July 3, 1949 ~ April 28, 2017 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Avery McFall Conkling was born July 3, 1949 in Kinston, North Carolina. She graduated from Peace College in 1970 with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. Avery worked at Hilton Head Academy for a few years before heading to Charleston, South Carolina. Avery was a Co-Owner, Vice President-General Manager of Trifles in Charleston and spent some of her most enjoyable years there. Avery’s personality, style and strong desire to be a part of her own business was a combination necessary to the operation. No matter what Avery did, she put her all into it and was an amazing addition to any team she was apart of. The highlight of Avery’s life was her daughter, Emma Conkling Aubrey, born July 20, 1986 in Siler City, North Carolina. Together they enjoyed their variety of pets, their horses and their times at the beach with family. Avery was an excellent artist, enjoyed needlepointing, collecting shells at the beach and spending time reading a great book. Avery brought boundless joy to others through her infectious giggle and was loved by everybody she met.

Avery is survived by her daughter, Emma and her husband Philip, their daughter Charlotte Avery; her sister, Julie Babb; and her brother, Chuck Conkling.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt love and thanks to Deb Obermeier who was an amazing friend and caretaker and her niece, Dani Brushaber. They loved and took care of Avery when she most needed it and were shining lights to Avery and the family. We could not have gotten through this without them.

Avery suffered from Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Avery to be made to The AFTD Association. 866-507-7222 or theaftd.org.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 8, 2017 at 2:00pm at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Raleigh, NC.
