Denah Strickland Long 53, passed away peacefully in her home on the evening of Monday, September 13, 2021. Denah was born on July 17, 1968 in Fayetteville, NC. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Patrick Strickland, grandparents Albert and Vonroe Strickland, and grandfather Harold (Poppy) Cain.
Denah graduated from Cape Fear High School and continued her education at the University of North Florida and Methodist College. After school, she entered the banking industry for many years. After banking she worked in the financial side of the automobile industry. Recently her family managed the Fayetteville Motor Speedway for many years.
Denah’s joy was spending time with her family and friends, being with her children and grandchildren, and her unshakable faith in God. She was dedicated to her church, and rarely missed Sunday services. Denah enjoyed spending time on the water and traveling to new places with her husband Jim and daughter Hope.
Throughout her battle with cancer, her faith and belief in our higher power never faltered. As a true “warrior” in this fight, Denah touched more lives than imaginable. Her legacy will live on in all who knew and loved her and who supported her every step of the way!
Denah is survived by her husband Jim Long Jr., her daughter Hope Wade, her son Wyatt (Savannah) Wade, her stepson Jaxon, her mother Dorothy (PeeWee) Merritt, her brothers, Hal Strickland and Patrick Strickland, her sister Tammy Merritt, grandchildren Kinley and Case, her beloved grandmother, Janet (Mammah) Cain, nephew Cooper Strickland, niece Katie (Justin) Davis, niece Bailey, great nephew Waylon Davis, and her favorite rescue dog, Hero, who brought her great comfort.

A Memorial Service was held at 6 PM on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor(s) Brian Dawson and Mike Boarts officiating. A Visitation was held prior to the service from 4:30 PM to 6 PM.
