On June 12, 2021, Helen Louisa Hudson passed over to be with the many friends and family who went before her. To her loved ones, including dear friends, she was known as “Aunt Helen”, but for most of Fayetteville, she was “Miss Hudson” at the counter of D.K. Taylor Oil Company, where she dedicated her career for over 70 years, and found beloved friendship in the Taylor family, especially D.K. (Bud) Taylor, Jr, and his wife, Deborah.
Born August 10, 1928, Helen was a lifelong Fayetteville resident and loved her hometown dearly. She leaves behind her sister, Patricia H. Mayfield Peters, of Clearwater, FL, her nephews, Arthur J. Mayfield, Jr, of Fayetteville, NC and Gentry L. Mayfield and wife Desiree, of Lake Havasu, AZ, godson Chris Barber of Carteret Co., NC, as well as her beloved great-niece, Erin E. Mayfield, of Richmond, VA, whom she loved and cherished to whom she was selflessly generous her whole life.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Orie G. Hudson, her father, Edgar M. Hudson, and her elder sister, Dorothy M. Hudson.
We are grateful for the light she shared with us and confident that she continues to shine. The family will gather for a memorial service at a later time.
