Jack Edward Long

Jack Edward Long passed away April 14, 2022 at his home with his wife and son.

I do not think there was a person who met Jack that didn’t come away with a story to tell. Especially me. His greatest joy was making people smile or laugh. Whether knocking on neighbor’s doors with fresh cut flowers or handing perfect strangers a camellia. Jack loved teaching neighbor’s kids how to make Crème Brule and bake cookies, which he would deliver to people, often dressed in his baker’s whites. 

Jack had a quick wit, a wicked sense of humor, and no one was a stranger. Whether on the golf course, playing cards, or shopping he would leave people with a smile or scratching their head. He was a kind soul who loved his wife, children, family, friends, and our rescue pets. But he never got me to eat mushrooms!!

After several years of failing health, watch out heaven - Jack's free at last.

Jack is survived by his wife Diane Libecki Long, his daughter Allyson and husband Frank Calderon of Pittsburgh, PA, and his son Jason Long and longtime partner Kristen of Cary.
