James Lewis

James Hubert Lewis, 88 years old, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023. He was born in Sampson County, North Carolina to the late Tiny (Betty) and Henry Lee Lewis.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Beulah, Stacy, Harry Lee, and Jasper Wade; his son, James Clifton Lewis; and granddaughter, Misty Norris Faircloth.

James leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 67 years, Della Wade Lewis; daughter, Cindy L. Maynor and husband Fred Maynor; four granddaughters, Amber Lewis, Brooks Martin (James), Tiffany Norris, and Brittany Wilkins; and 11 great-grandchildren, Michael, Leia, Collin, Trace, Lannah, Shaun-Ryan, Ayden, Jameson, Branson, T.J., Adalynn and many nieces and nephews and others that have come to call him “Papa.”

James was a man of his word and always spoke his mind. If you knew him, you knew he loved his family, Carolina Tar Heels basketball, and his flower beds. He spent many days on a golf course with his friends or cruising town in a sharp looking vehicle. Above all, the strongest love he had was for his wife, Della.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church (2271 Autry Mill Road, Godwin, NC 28344) on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service at 2:00 PM.

Flowers can be delivered to the Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church or the Lewis residence.
