She valued spending time with her son, grandsons, and great grandchildren; she especially enjoyed watching her grandsons play sports. She had a heart of service that was highlighted through her volunteerism with St. Paul’s in the Pines Episcopal Church, Fayetteville High School Class of 1956, Operational Inasmuch, and her time dedicated to our service men and women.

In 1991, Ms. Lowder became the first secretary to the Commanding General of the newly activated USA Special Forces Command (Airborne). In September 2000, she returned to the Joint Special Operations Command as the Administrative Assistant to the Commanding General. During her career, Ms. Lowder received numerous awards and recognition including, but not limited to; Commander’s Award for Civilian Service, Superior Civilian Service Awards, and the Special Act Award and Time Off Awards.

She was a cherished Mom, Nana, cousin, “Aunt JoJo”, “Jo”, “Auntie Angel”, cousin and friend to many. The impact that she left on everyone she interacted with will be felt for generations to come.

She is survived by her son Roy L. Lowder and his wife Cynthia of Parkton, grandchildren RJ Lowder (Kimberly) of Parkton, Jacob Lowder (Amber) of Clayton, and great grandchildren Kyree, Riley, Legacy and Cam.
