Joan Lila Midgette Obituary

Joan Lila Midgette, born August 27, 1937 to the late Lee J. and Margaret Lucille (Fowler) McDonald in Kent County, Grand Rapids, MI.

Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband Msgt. (Ret) Charles O. Midgette, Jr; sister Betty Jannereth; and brother Bob McDonald.

She is survived by her four daughters, Lila Thelen, Monica Midgette, Penny Blaine, and Tara Newton; two sisters, Marilyn Vargo and Linda McDonald; one brother Duane McDonald; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Joan was a member of the Arran Lake Baptist Church for over 38 years. She spent a lifetime loving our Lord and teaching others about Him through Sunday School teachings, Awanas, and simple conversation.

Never one to meet a stranger, her love of family, friends and children of any age were front and center in her home. Known for her fabulous down-home cooking from scratch, the Midgette home was the place to be for boardgames, cards, good conversation, or just a hug.

Whether you called her Mrs. M, nanny, friend, or mom, she always had time to listen with a place at her table and a heart that genuinely cared for you.

After a lifetime of serving her family, her church, and her community, she has found her place at home in heaven with our dad and the Father.

A Memorial Service will be held at Arran Lake Baptist Church on Sunday, July 25, 2021
