John was born on May 17, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri to Betty and Edward Reis. He passed away from natural causes on October 13, 2020.
John attended McCluer High School in Florissant, Missouri, and after graduating in 1967, he joined the Army where he served in Vietnam and Germany receiving several medals and citations. He achieved the rank of SP5 and was honorably discharged after 13 years of active duty service. Following his military service, John settled in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was a dedicated employee and member of Berean Baptist Church. Many of his coworkers and friends admired his hard work, compassion, and dedication in serving others cultivated by the church. A self-taught artist, John’s paintings are proudly displayed in his brother’s homes cherished as works of his goodness and kindness.
John was a devoted son, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed. He truly was a kind and gentle spirit who never had a bad word for or about anyone. He is survived by brothers Ed (Ginger), Jerry (Kerry), and Rich (Linda) Reis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. His parents and his brother, Jim, preceded him in death.

A private internment with family will be in the Springfield Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Berean Baptist Church at 10:00 AM.
