Kirby Ellis Norden

Kirby Ellis Norden, 78, passed away on January 7, 2021 at his home in Fayetteville, North Carolina with family by his side.

Kirby was born on January 22, 1942,  the oldest of five children. He was a member of Family Community Baptist Church where he enjoyed services and singings. He worked various maintenance jobs throughout his life and also worked as a veterinary assistant.

The love of his life was his late wife, Geraldine Norden. They shared 29 years of marriage together.

Kirby enjoyed fishing, gardening, working with his tools and building things. He made many birdhouses for family and friends and once made a few ‘tater’ guns. He could make any plant or flower grow and always shared them with others.

Kirby loved animals and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds from his front porch. He had a favorite dog, Roscoe, who stayed by his side during sickness and until he left us.

Kirby loved children and they loved him. He was known as “Pepaw” to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was loved dearly and will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his stepdaughters, Michelle Reel (Stephen) of the home and Linda Sisson (Gil) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, a step son, Steven Sherouse of Rock Hill, South Carolina, his brothers Bobby Norden (Becky) of Dunn, NC and Stacey Norden (Carolyn) of Richmond, VA and a sister, Francis Gavins of California.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Norden, parents, Robert Norden and Mary Norden Wiliford, brother, William Norden, stepson Marvin Sherouse, and stepdaughter Susan Revis.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Sunday, January 17, 2021 @ 3:00 PM at Family Community Baptist Church, 3915 Camden Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306, officiating by Pastor Roy Arrington.
