Larry Allen Royal

Larry Allen Royal, 76, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Larry was born in Sampson County on April 11, 1947 to the late Stacy and Kathleen (Johnson) Royal.

Larry is survived by his wife, Marie Royal; daughter, Sommer Royal-Smith and husband, Bobby; sister, Kathy Moore and husband, Larry; granddaughter, Julia Smith; niece, Brooke Mitchell; and nephew, Neil Mitchell.

While serving in the US Army, Larry was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his time in Vietnam. He went on to have a successful 28-year career with the Fayetteville Fire Department before retiring in 1996 and spent many years with the Salemburg Fire Department. Larry was an avid outdoor sportsman with a love of fishing and hunting. In 2016, he was inducted into the Fayetteville Area Shag Association’s Hall of Fame.

Larry touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Fayetteville Fire Department Station #12 (911 Hope Mills Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304) on February 9, 2024 at 3:00PM.
