Maria Luise Davis

Maria Luise Davis, 84, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at home surrounded by family and her beloved pets. Maria was born in Darmstadt, Germany on April 28, 1941 to the late Karl and Lina Abendroth.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, after 57 years of marriage.

Maria is survived by her four children, Norman (Lorie), Dan (Debbie), Jeff (Linda), and daughter Lovey. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Norman, Ember, Amanda, Meghan, Autumn, Morgan, Christopher, Stephanie, and Cameron; six great-grandchildren, Ryland, Freyja, Kodah, Jagger, Davis, and Landon; and two step great-grandchildren, Edan and Evalise.

Maria grew up in Darmstadt where she met and married Daniel, a young American soldier. She had an unwavering dedication to her four children and was very active in all aspects of their busy lives. From being a leader with the Boy Scouts of America, coaching summer league baseball programs to managing the concession stand, she loved all things sports and being outdoors. She retired as a Child Nutrition Manager after serving 30 years with the Cumberland County School System. In retirement she found joy in the simple pleasures – quiet afternoons spent in her backyard gazebo and welcomed many visits from her children and grandchildren.

A private family memorial service for Maria will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on August 18, 2025 at 2:00PM with Brother Larry Chason officiating.
