Ret. MSG Jerry Gordon Haley, 80, of Fayetteville went to be with the Lord on April 21st, 2022 at his home. Jerry was born in Mount Hope, WV. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the 10 SFG Europe and as an U.S. Army Recruiter. Jerry, formerly from Beckley, WV, was employed by Lewis Automotive and an active member of the Rotary.
His distinguished service included :National Defense Service Medal | Master Parachutist Badge | Good Conduct Medal (6x) | Vietnam Service Medal |Republic of Vietnam Parachutist Badge | AVrMedal | Bronze Star Medal | Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm | Army of Occupation Medal | Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal | USA Recruiting Badge and Army Commendation Medal (2d Oak Leaf Cluster).
He was preceded in death by his father, Thurman J Haley and mother, Sophia Ann Haley. He is survived by his brother , Larry J Haley (Bonnie) of Fort Washington, MD. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Julia Linville Haley of Fayetteville, and his daughters Kate Hatfield (Eric) and Ann Haley of Beckley, WV. Included also are his stepdaughters Karen Stump, Michelle Morris (Thomas) and Stephanie Hodges (LeRoy) all of Fayetteville, N.C.
He was most proud to be “Poppy- Pop” and “Paw-Paw” to his beloved grandchildren, Ansley, Evan, Brayden, Jared, John, Trey, Spence, Jacob, Sydney, Gehrig, Abigayle and three great grandchildren, Lily, Nathan, and Daniel. Jerry was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and spending time at the beach.
The family will hold a private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
