Robert Joseph Hewett Sr, born in Kaufman County, TX, passed away on July 24, 2024, at the age of 91 in Fayetteville, NC among family and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur Douglas and Ola Telifton (Carroll) Hewett. His eight siblings – Buster Hewett, Eugene Hewitt, Haskell Hewitt, Viola Wells (Hewett), Nelda Barber (Hewett), and three half-siblings Jesse Hawthorne, Luetta Hawthorne, Margaret Hawthorne.
Robert is survived by his wife Martha Hewett, sons Doug and Yvonne Hewett, Mike and Darla Hewett, Jeff Hewett, Rob and Ginger Hewett; daughters Karen and Tim White, Sally and Richard Quinn.
Robert had been retired for many years after working for the US Army as an aviator, US State Department as a contracted Logistics Supply Coordinator, an Investigator with the Department of Agriculture Office of Inspector General, Comptroller for the Farm Credit Bureau, and various other entrepreneurial projects. As a dedicated hobbyist in his later years, he was a self-taught clock, pocket watch, and wristwatch repairman, and he also wrote poetry for children with several published works still being sold today.
