SAMUEL HAL AUSLEY, JR.

            Samuel Hal Ausley, Jr., died Friday, May 19, 2017, at his home. He was born November 4, 1920, in Lillington, North Carolina, to Samuel Hal Ausley, Sr. and Bessie Hilliard Ausley. His birth mother died when he was 16 years old. His father later married Inez Collier, who was a wonderful mother to him and his siblings. He attended Lillington Public Schools and served in the United States Army. He studied accounting at Campbell College. He was in the insurance business for 42 years and was owner of Sam Ausley Insurance Agency. He was a dedicated member of the Dunn First Baptist Church. He served many terms as Deacon. He was on the Transportation and Senior Adult Committee. After retirement, he enjoyed the many trips the Seniors took with him as the driver. He was a member of the American Legion and Dunn Kiwanis Club, where he served as Treasurer for 15 years. He was a charter member and very active in the Holden Beach Chapel.

            He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth G. Ausley; daughter, Jane A. Adams; daughter-in-law, Carolyn H. Ausley; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maydelle A. Hately, Mary A. Jones, Joyce C. Gies and one brother, Wyatt Ausley.

            He was preceded in death by his first wife Hester McNeil Ausley; three children, A Harold Ausley, Gale L. Ausley and Beth A Turner; one sister, Agnes A. Emig and two brothers, Doyce Ausley and Elbert Ausley.

            A service of remembrance celebrating his life will be Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 309 West Broad Street, Dunn, North Carolina 28334, or Holden Beach Chapel, 107 Rothschild Avenue, Holden Beach, North Carolina,  28462.
