Retired Sgt. Maj. Charles "Jack" Wells, 78, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles D. and Eva D. Wells.
Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Katharine "Kitty" of Fayetteville; two sons, Charles Russell Wells and Andrew Steven Wells and wife Elizabeth of Fayetteville. Extended family, Teresa Vaughn and Chantel Riddick and his beloved grand dogs, Bonnie, Otis, Annie and Skunk.
Jack and Kitty met on a blind date and were inseparable and knew that they were meant for each other.
Jack entered the military and served in Vietnam and had tours of duty in the Far East and Germany. One of his proudest moments was the honor of introducing five-star General Omar Bradley. He retired from the military in 1981 and went to school for a few years at FTI taking various courses of interest. He then worked for Carolina Cabinets and Edwards Brothers. After finally retiring from work he joined various clubs and traveled with his family. Jack and his wife also enjoyed camping and arrowhead and shark tooth hunting, which became some of their favorite past times. He was especially close to his comrades in FILI and was very active. He kept in contact and enjoyed his time with his military retired "buddies".
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Parade Field in Fayetteville, NC, with full military honors.
