Reverend Alan B. Wells

The Reverend Alan B. Wells, age 93, passed away on September 1, 2016 at his home in Warsaw. He is survived by his 3 sons: Edward Wells and wife Lorraine of Swansea, SC, Kent Wells and wife Sue of Warsaw, NC, and Tim Wells and wife Leslie of Birmingham, AL; 1 daughter: Ruth Warren and husband Richard of Moore, SC;1 son-in-law Ken Carter and wife Rose of Lilburn, GA; 1 sister: Norma Overheiser of Boston, MA; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his by wife of 60 years, Shirley Parker Wells and daughter Elizabeth “Libbi” Carter. 

Rev. Wells answered the call to the ministry as a teen and received his degrees at Presbyterian College, Columbia Bible College, and Erskine Theological Seminary. After receiving his education, He served his Lord as an Ordained Minister in the Presbyterian Church for 44 years. His pastorates include: Calhoun Falls Presbyterian Church, Back Creek Presbyterian Church, Rocky River Presbyterian Church, Unity Presbyterian Church, Lowell Presbyterian Church and Effingham Presbyterian Church all in North and South Carolina and ended his service at Capitol View Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA when retiring at the age of 72. Rev. Wells continued his ministry by sharing the gospel to all who entered his home even during his illness.

The Reverend Dr. Joe Ward and The Reverend Dr. Ray Kennedy will officiate a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at Warsaw Presbyterian Church on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will follow the service in the Ladies Parlor of the church. A Private Family Inurnment to be held at a later date at Centre Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, NC. Memorials may be made to: Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC  28607.
